I’ve had it with this whole “heat wave” in New York! Up until yesterday I’d been trying to roll with it. Outdoor “She & Him” concerts, Jazz Age Lawn Parties, movies with friends. . . But yesterday trekking to New Jersey for a day-time BBQ for friends who will be moving to San Francisco soon, tipped me over the edge! Once at the BBQ (which was shaded) I was fine: it was getting there waiting on overheated subway platforms and walking in the 90 + heat that finally had me thinking by the time that I got back to my apartment that in fact maybe I did have a mild case of heat exhaustion—what with my brain feeling like Jello, being nauseous and only feeling OK when lying horizontal on my bed in front of the AC.
After several cold showers and the return of some of my mental faculties, I remembered that it’s not only been the heat that’s been intense lately, but that also this is a jam packed weekend for intense astrological transits! A Jupiter Square Pluto aspect took place yesterday evening, tonight we have a full moon around 9:30 pm EDT, and then tomorrow we have a culminating Saturn opposite Uranus .
The bigger pictures of this (I’ve attached a visual below) is that Jupiter (Expansion, Growth) is conjunct Uranus (big sudden change) and both are opposite Mars (Action) which is conjunct Saturn (Discipline) and all of these planets are Square Pluto (God of the Underworld---Change you Cannot Escape). And it’s all going to be the more intense for you if you have planets at the tail end of Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini, or just at the beginning of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn!
It’s no wonder I had a headache last night! These are the kind of transits that pretty much have you wondering if you’re on track with your life, doing the right thing, or if somehow you’re screwing up the future by breathing the wrong way. I’ve been reading a lot of Graham Greene lately after scoring a 1958 original of “The Comedians” at a Pop-Up Event in Brooklyn a couple months ago. Just started “Our Man in Havana” which has some of the best quotes I’ve read in a while. For instance this one which seems appropriate to my state of mind at the moment:
“ . . . it was only when Wormold had lain down that he remembered the postcard to Dr Hasselbacher was still on the sergeant’s desk. It seemed to him to have no importance; he could always send another in the morning. How long it takes to realize in one’s life the intricate patterns of which everything – even a picture-postcard – can form a part, and the rashness of dismissing anything as unimportant.”
Yesterday had me questioning my entire existence in NY and whether or not I should even stay here, as people keep telling me I’d have a much easier time in my love life if I were anywhere else but here! They say I would be able to find a guy who is more ‘simpatico’ on the West Coast, and maybe they are right; the low humidity weather would just be an added bonus. But how to make such a radical move and is it even the right thing?
All of this questioning seems to be driven by the Jupiter/Uranus conjuction oppose Mars/Saturn. It’s like on one side is radical change that will allow growth and the other is determined stability and ability to take action. But the two are NOT working together! Full moons like tonight are supposed to bring fulfillment and culmination but all I feel is a gnawing discontent and questions circling around my brain while the wind tunnel of my AC and fan set the appropriate while noise of confusion.
I suppose though that all of this is to be expected given that our new moon two weeks ago was an eclipse, and that also last months full moon was also an eclipse and sometimes eclipses take a month or so to have full effect. . . .
Anyhow, this is all just to let you know that if you’re sorely confused, you’re not alone! But as they say, perhaps the unexamined life isn’t worth living, so this weekend and the weeks to follow might be a good time to do some inner searching, taking stock of where you are, and where you’d like to be, and seeing if some real changes need to be made for the rest of 2010 or beyond!

I think more people will be watching the World Cup games tomorrow and Sunday just because they want to know if Paul the Octopus is a true psychic! I know my predictions for the World Cup don’t come close to his accuracy rate, although I did say that Netherlands would win against Uruguay. I will say that Paul's only been predicting Germany’s games so far, so there really isn’t enough raw data to tell if he knows what he’s talking about! I also wonder if Germany wasn’t psyched out by Paul being such a Debbie Downer about their game! Seriously, did Paul steal Germany’s mojo?
It seemed to me from the brief amount of the game I watched while at the gym at the office that they weren’t the team I’d seen in action before. . . .Although I did note that Muller was not playing, and he is a Virgo, an Earth sign that right now has the support of transiting Mars through Virgo. He is one of the 5 earth signs in the German team. Without one they’d be down to 4, which compared to the 10 Earth signs of Spain, they seem a bit outnumbered. Spain is very possessive of the ball, and perhaps that’s one of the keys of the Earth signs success in soccer—instead of making risky moves, they keep plodding until the ball is past the goal line!
And in addition to Mars being in Virgo, Venus just moved started it’s transit there as well! Plus I should point out that we’ll behaving a solar eclipse in Cancer around the time of the new moon (3:30 pm edt) which will be almost halfway through the game! What does all this mean? Perhaps more than we think! Eclipses are supposed to have long standing effects, sometimes for years to come. The winner of this cup will go down in history as the first World Cup win for that country (and Cancer rules home, nation, family). So whomever wins the cup, it will be a big moment for their home nation, and will perhaps have longlasting impact on it as well!
I’ve gone over the makeup of the teams in an earlier post, with Netherlands having the dominant of Air and Fire and Spain Earth and Fire. It’s really a tough call, only because each plays so differently. I will say though that the Natal Chart of the Netherlands shows very good transiting aspects to the eclipse, including the fact that it's Ascendant is in Cancer--and eclipses that happen in the first house are usually a complete change to the entire image of the chart bearer! Plus it’s harder to tell what the eclipse will do with Spain because there are two charts for the country!
I will go for the Netherlands for the Cup and Germany for the match with Uruguay (although why they make people play after they obviously won't win first is something I don't understand yet). . . . If you want to read all about Paul's predictions (which you probably already know!) go here! Game On!
We’re on our way to a big eclipse is Saturday the 26th! The new moon last week on the 12th had me, and others, very tired. I literally felt like something old was ending and something new was coming into focus. Perhaps it felt particularly strong because of the upcoming pair of eclipses that will bring big change. The first will be on June 26th, a lunar full moon eclipse, and the next one on July 11th will be a solar eclipse with the new moon.
Traditionally the waxing portion of the moon cycle, from the new moon to the full moon, is the time when one can initiate and move forwards with new plans with ease. One does and acts vs the time from the full moon to the next new moon, the waning phase, where it’s easier for one to reflect and analyze. The moon cycle as a whole is supposed to be one where at the new moon something new is initiated, it grows until the culmination of the full moon and then the experience is analyzed, evaluated, and understood on the way back to the next new moon where the cycle starts again.
I’ve found that it’s good to keep the moon cycles in mind when starting new activities as if you start something new during the waxing moon the universe seems to give it just a bit more of a “push” forwards. Right before a new moon it’s good to be a little more introspective, give yourself a time to meditate, and get ready for something new. Although I keep track of when the new and full moon are, it’s sometimes hard to find a daily planner that gives you all the information you need, and here’s the perfect item: the Lunar Diary! I think I just might get this for 2011!
At the moment I feel like we’re hurtling towards the 26th and the full moon eclipse. This Summer is sure to be full of big changes, so take stock and get ready!
